L. Michelle Smith is a best-selling, award winning author, certified executive and personal coach, Fortune 100 advisor and the CEO/founder of No Silos Communications LLC., a media and consulting company that develops high-performing executive leaders with a specialty in women and women of color. She is also a global executive coach for the Executive Leadership Council Institute.

Smith has authored several books and holds editing credits for a children's book, including No Thanks: 7 Ways to Say I’ll Just Include Myself, the companion journal, Slay Everyday: 52 Weeks to Rockstar Leadership and her latest, Yes Please! 7 Ways to Say I’m Entitled to the C-Suite.  She is the creator, executive producer and host of The Culture Soup Podcast®, heard in 70+ countries with 350+ episodes, it debuted at #6 on Apple Podcasts in a business category.

Smith has been an executive board Co-Chair for Opera America, is currently an advisory board member of The Denyce Graves Foundation, and sits on the Board of Visitors at TCU's Bob Schieffer College of Strategic Communication where she is an adjunct professor of strategic communication.

3 PART INTERVIEW In this interview, L. Michelle Smith discusses her early life, education, and career. Smith attended TCU in the 1990s and was a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority. At that time Black students made up a small percentage of the student body. She was one of two Black female TCU cheerleaders at the time. She discusses the campus climate and experiences with racism. Smith was also a columnist for the student newspaper the TCU Skiff and frequently wrote about race. Smith was on the ballot for Homecoming Queen but did not win. She discusses the details of this election.
