Larry Dickson

Larry Dickson is the third of four children of Rev. and Mrs. Melvin C. Dickson formerly of Dallas TX. Rev. Dickson served over forty years as a pastor in the Disciples of Christ Church which ultimately led to Larry Dickson’s interest in attending Texas Christian University. After graduating from TCU in 1969, he started a professional career in consumer products sales with Scott Paper Company. Dickson subsequently became Region Manager of Sales at companies such as Scott Paper Company, Russell Stover Candies, and Gerber Baby Products. I is the proud father of one daughter, Dr. Erica Dickson, of Mission Viejo CA and grandfather to two grandsons. Dickson retired in 2014 and currently resides in Laguna Woods, CA.

In this interview, Dickson discusses his early life and education in Dallas, his experience as a Black student at TCU in the 1960s and his experiences with racism on campus, in his dormitory and the classroom. Dickson also discusses the relationships he had with other Black students on campus.
